But to get the most out of this tip, it’s important to take note of your skin tone.
For example, people with warmer skin tones would use lipsticks with warmer undertones (orange, for example). However, if you have fairer skin, you need to use a deep red lipstick with cooler undertones (blues, purples, etc.)
So how do you know if you are cool or warm? Look at your veins. If they are blue, you have cool undertones. If they are green, you likely have warm undertones.
Check out the image below and see if you can tell which shade is best. Let your eyes go between the lips and teeth for all four images.
Did you notice the orange color looks best?
As you can see, the lipstick is not really brightening the teeth but it is masking the yellow color.
Because this woman has warmer skin tones, the orange is the optimal choice.
However if she had fairer skin, a rich, berry red lipstick with blue undertones would have been a better choice.
But as you can see in the photo above, the berry red actually draws attention to the yellow teeth.
Just remember that your skin tone is super important here. I’ve read other blogs that say to stay away from orange, but that depends on the shade of orange and your skin tone.
